A 50-year-old Murfreesboro man was accosted by two drunk men Saturday, May 5 on the Square, according to an incident report.
The man was innocently jogging down Walnut Street toward West Main Street in downtown when two white, bearded men appeared, one of whom asked him why he was running.
The man responded that he was training for a marathon.
One of the bearded men responded, "Well, then run, n-----, run!" Both men then chased the jogger (who is white) toward the Square.
The victim said "as the two males were chasing him, they were throwing full beer cans at him from a six-pack of beer the duo was carrying," the report said.
To avoid being struck by a beer can, "he jumped into the bed of a moving truck to escape," the report said.
The suspects were described as white men, standing around 6'0" with long beards.
Woman harassed by unknown men
On May 5, a Blackman woman called police because two men showed up at her door with what she believed to be a bottle of urine, according to an incident report.
The victim said she heard a knock at her front door shortly before noon. Because she was not expecting any visitors, she peeked out to see who had knocked.
She "saw two white men in their 20s standing outside holding a water bottle with an unknown yellow liquid," the report said. "The suspects saw her looking out the window and smiled at her."
The victim did not open the door so the subjects left in a four-door white SUV.
But on their way out, they tossed the bottle in her trashcan, which was at the curb.
The victim found the bottle, took it out of the trashcan and turned it over to police.
The officer couldn't determine what the liquid was but the victim believed it was urine and the men were there to harass her because she is Muslim.
Because the officer didn't know what the liquid was, he threw it away, the report said.
A special watch was placed on the victim's house.
