Murfreesboro man killed in motorcycle crash on Thursday, July 19

A Murfreesboro man was killed Thursday, July 19 when the motorcycle he was driving was struck by another motorist near MTSU campus.

At around 8:25 p.m. Thursday, Murfreesboro Police Officers responded to a crash at the intersection of West Clark and Middle Tennessee boulevards and Lascassas Highway.

The crash involved a 2012 Ford Mustang and a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle. The investigation revealed the motorcycle was traveling west on Middle Tennessee Boulevard while the Mustang was traveling east and attempted to turn left onto Lascassas Highway colliding with the motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as Terry E. Elder, 61, of Murfreesboro, was treated on the scene by Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department and transported by Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by LifeFlight.

He was pronounced deceased at Vanderbilt a short time later.

No charges have been filed at this time, however, the investigation is ongoing.
