Murfreesboro author Kerri French will read her poetry at Poet's Corner, a monthly event at Nashville's Scarritt Bennett Center, on Thursday, Aug. 23.

French is the author of Every Room in the Body, published in 2017 by Moon City Press and winner of the 2016 Moon City Poetry Award.

Her book has garnered national recognition as the recipient of the North Carolina Poetry Society’s prestigious Brockman-Campbell Book Award and as a finalist for the First Horizon Award, which honors superior work by debut authors. French is also the author of a chapbook about Amy Winehouse, Instruments of Summer, from Dancing Girl Press.

French's work appears widely in literary journals such as Washington Square Review, Copper Nickel, Best New Poets, and The Southern Poetry Anthology, among many others.

Poet's Corner, a free event, will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 PM in Fondren Hall on the Scarritt Bennett campus. French will be reading from Every Room in the Body and sharing new work as well.
