Murfreesboro's Triumph Award Ceremony to honor local heroes Feb. 29

The public is invited to the second annual Triumph Award ceremony honoring Rutherford County heroes at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29 at Patterson Park Community Center. Patterson Park is celebrating Black History Month by recognizing the local and national accomplishments within the African American community.

The Triumph Award honors Rutherford County heroes for their boldness in the community. The honor is then awarded to a new generation of leaders.

“Our goal is to bridge a connection between generations of greatness,” said Crystal Ellis-McFerrin, Program Coordinator at Patterson Park.

Patterson Park received many outstanding nominations from local schools and churches. The Patterson Park youth will be giving speeches about the honorees to showcase their talent.

Each award category will have several recipients. The awards that will be presented are:

Patterson Park will also recognize Omega Psi Phi Fraternity for their long-standing partnership and their many philanthropic activities.

A reception will be held following the Triumph Awards presentation.
