T.G. Sheppard and Kelly Lang Release ‘You’re Still The One’ Just In Time For Valentine’s Day

One of my favorite country music couples is T.G. Sheppard and Kelly Lang. I learned last year that the pair were planning a new duets album for 2024. They decided that the first song they would release off the upcoming album would be a cover of Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One.”

Last year, after attending a Shania Twain concert the pair found themselves naturally singing the song.

Sheppard explained, “Every time we got in the car, and it came on, we'd sing along with it. So, when we got ready to do our new duets album, Kelly said, ‘Let's do the Shania Twain song, ‘You're Still The One.’ I said, ‘Great idea.’ So, we got in the studio and it just kind of worked out that way. It is perfect for the romantics here at this time of year on Valentine's Day.”

The song has never been covered as a duet, and T.G. Sheppard and Kelly Lang are the perfect pair to do it. With permission from the writers to change a word here and there, their love for each other is evident as they serenade each other.

Lang and Sheppard have been together for 23 years and married for 17. It is a challenge to be a couple especially when you are on the road so much and you may not see each other as often as you would like.

“It's just really great to be married to somebody who does what you do for a living. As long as there's that mutual trust and respect that goes along with the love,” Sheppard affirmed.

Besides being an accomplished musician on her own, Lang is a nineteen year breast cancer survivor. She recently made her official Grand Ole Opry debut for Opry Goes Pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Her latest album, ‘Dragonfly’, contains nine self-present songs, including her popular singles "I'm Not Going Anywhere" and "I Think It's Jesus." 'Dragonfly' also contains classic hymns such as "Amazing Grace" and "Jesus Loves Me / I Surrender All." ‘Dragonfly’ also includes her powerful song, "Life Sentence," about cancer, which Lang and her fans have faced together. Lang's positive attitude towards her own battle with breast cancer gives hope to others dealing with similar situations.

Sheppard recently celebrated the 40th Anniversary of his #1 hit single "Slow Burn," which was released in September 1983 and was the title track of the hit album as well. With 21 #1 hits total "Slow Burn" became Sheppard’s thirteenth number-one hit, spending fourteen weeks in the Top 40. The album also included the popular singles "Somewhere Down The Line" and "Make My Day" with Clint Eastwood, which was added to the record for a re-release in February 1984 and used in the hit film 'Sudden Impact' starring Eastwood.

The song that helped to make Sheppard the mega-star he is today is his iconic hit from 1988, “I Loved ‘em Everyone.” And while that single will always be a fan favorite, I can attest that today, he only has eyes for Kelly Lang.

Sheppard shared, “After the success of our first duet album ‘Iconic Duets,’ people have been asking when we would be recording another album together. If their cover of “You’re Still the One” is any indication of what is to come, I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us.
