Ramadan (the month of fasting for Muslims) is a month of self-purification and giving for Muslims. We, as Muslims, wanted to celebrate and honor those who give tirelessly in our Murfreesboro Community by hosting a Nonprofits Appreciation Iftar (Dinner).
The dinner was held from 6:30-9:30 p.m. June 2 at Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro.
Members of local nonprofits were served a dinner table by local business and families as a show of appreciation for what they do.
The Murfreesboro Muslim Youth also presented two awards and monetary gifts. One to a "Distinguished Community Service Organization" and one to a "Distinguished Community Service Person."
The Distinguished Community Service Organization was presented to The Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford and Cannon Counties.
Distinguished Community Service Person was named as Layken Sanders
