Stacy Nunnally wants to bring a new energy and fresh perspective to the County Commission. She is running for County Commissioner in District 19 in the Aug. 2 county and local general election.

“I believe the old saying that all politics are local. The county commission addresses issues that have an immediate impact on our families and community. It’s important that each and every voter be represented by a commissioner who understands the need for a safe place to live, roads and infrastructure that keeps up with our growth and protection of our community resources. I invite everyone to join me as we grow together without leaving anyone behind,” Nunnally said.

Nunnally started her career in nonprofit leadership working with organizations like the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee and the Margaret Cuninggim Women's Center at Vanderbilt University. She has turned her success in helping build nonprofits into an independent consulting firm. Her work focuses on helping Middle Tennessee nonprofits and small businesses with social media and digital communications strategy, community building, advocacy and fundraising.

"Stacy Nunnally will bring a fresh perspective to the County Commission," said Joyce Lavery, Murfreesboro resident and CEO of Safe Haven Family Shelter. "Her experience in working with nonprofits means that she understands how to do a lot of good with a small budget. She will bring that skill with her to the county commission."

Nunnally graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in political science. She currently serves on the Advisory Council for the Tennessee State Parks Conservancy and has volunteered with various organizations, including the Tennessee Economic Council on Women, and has held numerous leadership positions on volunteer committees. Stacy has also been recognized for her leadership and advocacy work.

“I know that Stacy Nunnally will do an excellent job as a County Commissioner for Rutherford County," said Brandon Thomas, resident of District 19, LGBT activist and candidate for Tennessee Democratic Party State Executive Committee. "She has spent a majority of her adult life working in the nonprofit sector, advocating for people that needed a champion and a voice. She is a true public servant, and serving in this position will allow her to help even more of our neighbors.” 

“As I’ve met more neighbors in District 19, I’ve confirmed what I’ve always believed, we are more alike than different. I have had the opportunity to meet business owners, retirees, teachers, other community leaders and people from all over Rutherford County who are excited about our growth but concerned that we cannot maintain the way of life important to all of us. I’m happy to talk about that because I believe we can do both. We can grow together as a community, welcoming new industry and jobs while keeping the tremendous character of the place we love,” Nunnally said.

The election for Rutherford County Commissioners in Aug. 2. Early voting opens July 13 and runs through July 28.
