The Middle Tennessee soccer team picked up another individual accolade following their 4-0 smashing of LIU Brooklyn last Friday.

Miya Lennon has been named Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Player of the Week. This is just Blue Raider soccer's second ever TSWA award.

Lennon powered the MT offense in dominant fashion last weekend, picking up a goal and two assists.

The goal was also the first of her career and came as the first of the game, which turned out to be the game winner. She scored by following up a shot that was initially saved by the LIU goalkeeper midway through the first half of the game.

She kept the offense surging by assisting on the next two Blue Raider goals. One of her assists was a solo 65 yard run effort that included beating the entire midfield and Blackbird backline before teammate, Sam DeBien tapped it in.

Lennon now has three assists on the year, second-most on the team while her five points are tied for third-most.

"Miya has adjusted really quickly to the college game and is playing well at the moment," said Head Coach Aston Rhoden. "I'm really happy to see that her hard work has earned her this recognition by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association".

With Sydney Navarro being named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week earlier this week, this is the first time since 2012 that MT has earned multiple Player of the Week honors in the same week.

Lennon and the rest of the Blue Raiders host two games at the Dean A. Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium this weekend. MT will hit the pitch on Friday, Sept. 7 when the squad hosts Valparaiso at 7 p.m. and then return Sunday, Sept. 9 to square up against Western Carolina at 2 p.m. The game versus the Catamounts can be seen on ESPN3.
