Murfreesboro Police officers and detectives are participating in the American Cancer Society’s “No Shave November” for the sixth year.
The thought behind No Shave November is “to grow cancer awareness and raise funds to support cancer prevention, research and education.”
The ACS encourages participants to “donate the money usually spent on shaving and grooming for a month to support life-saving research”.
In support of this effort, officers and detectives can donate money to the American Cancer Society in exchange for the Chief of Police to waive the Department’s policy regarding facial hair during the month of November.
The Murfreesboro Police Department has raised approximately $10,000 for the American Cancer Society since the department began participating in 2013. Officers from each shift and division will also nominate an officer with the best beard to be considered for the “Best Beard Award”.
