Simply Pure Sweets has expanded its menu and its family. In October, the Sweets Lady Chantell Kennedy-Shehan married the Bread Man Matthew Joseph.
And now that she's hitched, the owner of downtown Murfreesboro's only French-inspired bakery is letting her hubby bake his breads during the week and not just for the Saturday Market.
So if you're craving spent grain bread or a sourdough loaf, stop by and see the Kennedy-Shehan-Josephs and stock up on fresh-baked bread.
In other food news, McAlister's Deli celebrated its second Murfreesboro location with a ribbon cutting (pictured above) on Monday, Nov. 12.
The new restaurant is located in the former Peter D's at 2537 Medical Center Pkwy. in Murfreesboro.
Now you don't have to drive across town for a giant baked potato.
Puckett’s Murfreesboro launches monthly trivia night
Starting Tuesday, Nov. 20, Puckett's Gro. in downtown Murfreesboro will team up with local organizations to host a series of trivia nights.
With a rotating sponsorship from the Discovery Center at Murfree Spring and Brainblast Entertainment, the Puckett’s trivia events will take place on a monthly basis. Each night will take on a different theme, and the Nov. 20 trivia will center around STEAM-related topics with a touch of pop culture.
"We are constantly looking for ways to get involved in the Murfreesboro community," said Sally Mink, Marketing Director for A. Marshall Hospitality. "Everyone had such a wonderful time at our previous trivia nights, so we decided to make this a monthly event!"
Other monthly trivia nights are scheduled for from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 20, Dec. 18, Jan. 15, Feb. 19, March 19, April 16 and May 21.

Amazon to bring jobs, higher housing prices to Nashville
As you likely heard, Amazon picked Virginia and New York to house its new HQ2.
But Nashville didn't miss out. The online retailer (which has distribution centers in Murfreesboro and Lebanon) announced 5,000 full-time, high-paying jobs are coming to Nashville.
The represents an investment of more than $230 million as the company will occupy 1 million square feet of energy-efficient office space.
Nashville will benefit from an estimated tax revenue increase of more than $1 billion over the next 10 years as a result of Amazon’s investment and job creation.
That's why the state gave it $102 million in tax breaks based on the company creating 5,000 jobs with an average wage of more than $150,000 in Nashville.
This includes a cash grant for capital expenditures from the state of Tennessee of $65 million based on the company creating 5,000 jobs over the next 7 years, which is equivalent to $13,000 per job; a cash grant from the city of Nashville of up to $15 million based on $500 for each job created over the next 7 years; and a job tax credit to offset franchise and excise taxes from the state of Tennessee of $21.7 million based on $4,500 per new job over the next 7 years.
From the press release, it looks like the company plans to locate on the site of the old Lifeway building. I have one thing to say, good luck finding parking spaces for all those people in The Gulch.
Blue Angels tickets go on sale Saturday
Three years after a tragic accident took the life of Capt. Jeff Kuss, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron is returning to Smyrna for the Great Tennessee Air Show.
The air show is set for on June 8-9, 2019, at the Smyrna Airport and tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Kuss was killed when his plane crashed June 2, 2016, during a practice run over Smyrna. The town erected a memorial to the fallen Marine Corp pilot earlier this year.
General admission and premium tickets will be available online only by visiting the Great Tennessee Air Show website, greattennesseeairshow.com. Tickets will not be sold on-site during show days.
