Starting Jan. 2, 2019, the St. Clair Street Senior Center will extend its hours of operation to enhance customer service.
"We are pleased to significantly extend the Senior Center's operating hours for the good of customer service," said Thomas Laird, assistant director of Parks & Recreation. "The Center continues to provide a better quality of life for those aged 60 and older."
The new operating hours are:
• Saturday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.; and
• Sunday, 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
The new operating hours will be staffed within the existing budgeted allocations through effective scheduling of current Senior Center staff, with a focus on excellent customer service.
In August, The Senior Center was incorporated under the newly created Community Services Division as part a reorganization of the City's administrative structure to enhance customer service. The division executive director is Angela Jackson, who had previously served as director of Parks & Recreation.
The Senior Center, located at 325 Saint Clair St., celebrated its grand reopening in July 2017, following an eight-month renovation. The remodeled Senior Center received a $2.3 million facelift, including interior lighting, new furniture, exercise center and networking lounge.
In 2017, The St. Clair Street Senior Center received the Tennessee Federation for Aging "Innovation Award" for improving the lives of older adults with new programming and renovation to the Center.
St. Clair Street Senior Center is creating a better quality of life for residents of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County who are sixty years of age or older, through lifelong learning, promotion of health and well-being, socialization, and volunteer opportunities.
