Why are so many people still moving here?

The Tennessee county that grew the most, percent wise, since 2010 isn't where you might think it is.

According to population estimates released from the U.S. Census Bureau, the fastest growing county in the state over the past eight years isn't Rutherford, Williamson or even Davidson County. It's Trousdale County.

As Tennessee's smallest county, Trousdale (a metro county with its county seat Hartsville) had a population was 7,870, which grew to an estimated 11,012 in 2018. That's a whopping 40 percent growth rate for the 87th most populous county.

By comparison, the second fastest growing county by percentage, Williamson, added 48,464 residents and grew by 26.4 percent.

The third fastest growing, Rutherford County, grew 23.7 percent over the same period, adding 62,308 residents.

Only Davidson County beat Rutherford in shear number of people. The Nashville Metro area grew by 66,027 (or nearly six times as make people that live in Trousdale County), which equates to a measly 10.5 percent growth.

Since From 2010, the Nashville MSA grew by almost 300,000 people if you couldn't tell by the traffic. In real numbers, the midstate grew from 1.67 million to 1.9 million.

The goodish news is it looks like the migration to the "It City" is slowing from the peak in 2015 when more than 37,000 people moved to the Nashville MSA. From 2017 to 2018, we only added about 30,000 residents growing from 1,900,584 to 1,930,961.
