An essay written Kobi Walker, a Junior ROTC cadet from Stewarts Creek High School, was one of only two essays selected to represent the 7th Brigade — a five state area in the Southeast — in the U.S. Army Cadet Command National Essay Contest.

The subject of this year's essay was "Live Your Life with Integrity, Lose with Dignity, Win with Humility."

If selected as the national winner, Walker will receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. to participate in the JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl.

Cadet Walker is the first 7th Brigade National Cadet Command Essay winner from Rutherford County, according Col/R Harry Houchens.
