Murfreesboro man threatened with blackmail over explicit picture

A Murfreesboro man was scamming ladies online when he was scammed.

After sending an explicit photo to an assumed woman he met online on the website WellHello.com, a local man was threatened with blackmail, an report filed with MPD says.

The victim told MPD Officer D. Riley he was on an the dating site, presumably trying to pick up woman who claimed her name was Kristen Conunan. As the pair were chatting, the alleged woman asked for an explicit picture of him and he sent it.

The suspect then “sent him a message with his Facebook profile requesting $200 or the picture will be sent to all of his friends,” Riley said.

The victim didn't send the money, but reported it to police instead.

Moral of this story: Don't send explicit pictures to anyone. Even if they ask for them.

Nashville man arrested in Murfreesboro

A Nashville man was arrested Thursday night, Nov. 16 after Officer J. Millraney reportedly spotted him driving a car that was reported stolen, according to an arrest report from Murfreesboro Police.

Millraney was near Veterans Parkway and Franklin Road when he spotted a stolen car reported stolen by the Sheriff's Office. The officer tried to pull the driver over, but he refused to stop.

Millraney broke off the attempted traffic stop before it became a high-speed car chase “and pulled over to the side of the road,” Millraney said.

From where Millraney stopped, the officer could see the suspect vehicle was abandoned in the parking lot of a convenience store at Franklin Road and Rucker Lane.

As another officer checked the car, Millraney patrolled the area, looking for the driver.

“After I received a description of the suspect, Officer Ferrell made contact with Otis Mitchell, who was hiding behind the dumpster in the Publix loading bay,” Millraney said.

Otis J. Mitchell, 24, of Nashville was arrested without incident and taken to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center for booking.

A warrants check performed by Millraney found multiple warrants for Mitchell's arrest, including one for aggravated assault from the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Mitchell was charged with felony evaded arrest, theft of property and driving on a revoked license.
