Dr. Anita L. Herron describes herself as a servant’s SERVANT. That’s why she is running to be the next Rutherford County Commissioner in District 3. District 3 encompasses a large area from Old Nashville Highway to the County line on the East, from the Nissan Plant to Sulphur Springs and Jefferson Pike areas.
Veteran, Chaplain, Educator, Clinician – you’ll have a hard time finding someone more qualified for the position of County Commissioner. Dr. Anita Herron is an honorably retired Captain in the Army and taught JROTC for five years in our local community. She works as a Faith-based Liaison, Police Chaplain, and Clinician within Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
Dr. Herron teaches as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Social Work at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) and Williamson College in the School of Theology. She currently serves as a volunteer for both the United States Secret Service and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations Chaplain Programs. Dr. Herron is also the Diversity Chair for International Conference for Police Chaplains (ICPC)
Her educational background includes a Master’s in Theology and Certificate in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University Theological Seminary; Doctor of Education in Children and Family Services from Nova Southeastern University; Master of Social Work from Syracuse University; and a Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 Mediator listed in Civil, Family and Domestic Violence from Lipscomb University.
Personally, Dr. Herron has two adult children, two grandchildren, and one on the way. Her mother has had the biggest positive effect on her life because of her love and goodness for everyone. When you meet Anita, you’ll feel her sincerity and kindness.
As your next County Commissioner, she looks forward to ensuring Rutherford County and its citizens thrive. She believes everyone deserves "a seat at the table" when it comes to shaping the future of our County. Supporting the issues that matter to you most is important to her.
