When I saw the music video for Cali Tucker’s “Country Couture,” it was evident that she was a natural-born entertainer. My assumptions were correct. Cali Tucker is LaCosta Tucker's daughter and Tanya Tucker's niece.
She recalls growing up backstage and touring on the bus. She explained, “At the end of the show, they'd invite us to come out on stage and wave at the crowd. That's what really hooked me- the energy. It was the life, the happiness, the joy. It was very intoxicating at a young age.”
She soon realized that other families don’t “get to do this,” but she was unaware of the hard work that went into all the shows and touring.
“I knew it was special. And I knew it's what I wanted to do,” she stated.
Besides her famous family, Tucker was influenced by the likes of Trisha Yearwood, Pam Tillis, and Reba, but it wasn’t until Shania Twain came on the scene that the floodgates opened and permitted her to be unique.
Tucker thought, “If she can do it, I can do it.”
She continued, “You can’t pigeonhole Shania, and that’s how I want people to think about me. You can’t put me in a box. I am going to cross all genres.”
Tucker got her first big break in 2014 when she tried out for NBC’s The Voice, was selected for Blake’s team, and became a finalist. Since then, she has risen to prominence as a headlining act in Las Vegas, captivating audiences with her remarkable talent as a live performer. Cali’s self-designed solo show is highly interactive, featuring rich vocals, infectious humor, and a dynamic stage presence.
She has flourished in Vegas and often sings six nights a week.
Since she moved there, Tucker has been figuring out her sound, brand, and image.
Nothing expresses her brand quite like the song “Country Couture,” which premiered in People Magazine in July. Cali highlights high-end brands she enjoys adorning and shopping for, but deep down, she remains the same relatable country belle who can throw on a t-shirt and dig deep into working on a farm. “Country Couture” allows Cali to commemorate who she is on the outside while also realizing the true beauty of who she is as a woman.
While Tucker was primarily raised in Nashville, it took her leaving there to finally figure out who she was as an artist and how to become the best performer she could be.
She concurred, “Vegas helped me come into my own. It took a while to get my footing there. But when you're happy, it really does show. Everything just fell into place the way it should. I got healthier and a little better in shape. I stopped dying my hair. I got to the place where I wanted to be.”
Her newest single is “Urban Cowboy,” a modern fairytale set to a western theme. Urban Cowboy is a mythical creature like Bigfoot or Santa Claus. Does he really exist?
“We’re all looking for our Urban Cowboy,” Tucker jested.
Released this week, the video starts with a grandmother reading a fairytale to her granddaughter. As the song begins, Tucker is joined by a myriad of fictional creatures as she searches for true love.
Tucker reflects on the song’s inspiration: "As kids, we grew up believing in fairy tales and mythical creatures. The Urban Cowboy represents a dream of love that we yearn for but rarely encounter. This song is about holding onto that dream and trusting that love will eventually find you.”
The lyrics You don't need to prove/ To anyone but me/ I just need to see/ 'Cause I already believe give hope to those still waiting for their knight (cowboy) on a horse to come to them.
She relates to the song strongly because, as her Instagram post stated, she reconnected with an old high school flame (they both like each other but didn't tell anyone), who she describes as the “most incredible and remarkable man I could ever imagine. I’ve finally found my Urban Cowboy.”
Tucker’s unique fashion sense and luxury persona are a big part of her brand in the country music business.
as she prepares for the launch of many upcoming projects for 2024, including the Country Couture clothing line. Partnering with prominent brands, producers, songwriters, designers, and influencers, Tucker promises to continue to astound audiences not just in Las Vegas but across the country and the globe.
Unlike many of the artists in Nashville, Tucker does not tour per se, but you can hear her powerhouse vocals in person the next time you visit Las Vegas, as she is a regular fixture on the strip.
You can keep up with everything Cali Tucker does on her website, Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, YouTube, and all streaming platforms.
