Kasey Tyndall Releases Self-Titled Album

Since I first featured Kasey Tyndall in January 2020, a lot has happened since the rising artist got her start. She has been on tour with Drake White, Ella Langley, and Ian Munsick, to name a few. Not only that, Tyndall also got married and had a baby.

Now, with a new label, MNRK Music, the country-rocker’s latest album features her most vulnerable songwriting yet, with each song introducing a different layer that makes up who she is today. As her label states, the North Carolina native is known for her hook-heavy convergence of rock and roll and country. This sound perfectly echoes the rare balance of boldness and sensitivity that infuses all her output. MNRK Music is not known as a country music label, but Tyndall is “excited to wave the country flag for them.”

However, “Nashville definitely raised me as far as songwriting goes,” she admitted.

Each song on the new record showcases a different layer that makes up who she is today. The CMT Next Women of Country star previously released “Pulling Weeds,” which shows off her rocker edge and features witty lyrics that poke fun at life and luck. Before that, fans were treated to “Not As I’ve Done,” a sweet serenade that serves as a blueprint on life for her young daughter, Sterling.

The final song released before the record was released was the hard-driving “Crystal Methodist,” a song that was featured on CMT and showcased in the prestigious Times Square in New York City.

Tyndall explained, “That song is about your typical small town, just like the one I grew up in. Everybody in that town might have their quirks, but still, it's perfect just the way it is. Everybody feels that way about their hometown. It's nowhere else like it. But despite its warts and bruises, it’s the best place ever.”

Another rocking song is “Karma,” where Tyndall compares karma to the bitch she is. Her favorite song on the record is “Famous,” as in “I don’t want to be famous, keep some things sacred.”

But even with her country-rock attitude, Tyndall still has a serious side as she explores vulnerability in a friend’s shaky marriage with “Four Roses.” With “The Wrong Side of Rock and Roll, Tyndall explores why you keep going back to the thing or person that is not good for you. She also shows her gratitude to God for her husband and daughter with the heartfelt “He Gave Me You.”

She wrote two songs about her husband, Nate. The first one, “Men Like You,” compares him to a ’67 Chevy, as in “they don’t make them like they used to.” The second, “I Ain’t Asking,” is about a woman’s desire for her man, and it’s as smokin’ hot as you would expect it to be.

Even though it was released early, Tyndall decided that “Middle Man,” an autobiographical yet deeply resonant song about her parents' divorce co-written with her former roommate Lainey Wilson, needs another go. She has re-released it so it can be newly discovered by those who can relate to it.

I went to the album release party and can most assuredly state that no one rocks country music harder than Tyndall. She has found her sound, unabashedly singing songs that reflect her truth. Keep up with Tyndall as she goes on spring and summer tours, including select dates on Megan Moroney’s Am I OK tour.
