Harper Grace and Franklin Jonas Release ‘IDK’

Those who grew up with kids who were crazy about the Jonas Brothers probably remember there was a 4th younger brother, Frankie.

Now Frankie is Franklin, and he is grown and making quite a name for himself with hit pop tunes like “Cherub” and “Cocaine.” But it wasn’t until he teamed up with country newcomer Harper Grace that I paid him any attention.

It turns out that Harper and Frankie are singers and songwriters, and they recently composed the tune “IDK” alongside Cooper Bascom. In the song, they admit there are things about love they don’t know as they attempt to chase a genuine yet seemingly elusive relationship, while vulnerably confessing their fears and past failures. Filled with more questions than answers, the two new artists dust themselves off and hesitantly try again on the original collaboration. With a heavy mix of cautious optimism and wild uncertainty, they ease their way into the tension, too afraid not to risk heartbreak even with all its unknowns.

What I wanted to know was how the LA-based Franklin Jonas got teamed up with Curb Records’ Harper Grace. It turned out that Jonas Group Entertainment launched the Nashville-based publishing division, Jonas Group Publishing, in 2020. Since Franklin is part of that label, he spends a great deal of time in Nashville, and he and Harper have become mutual fans of each other. They wrote the song in a group write, and the rest is history.

Franklin stated, “We went into that session sort of having a lot of ideas. I came in wanting to really go into it with the mindset of writing a duet. Then it became a dialogue between two people. And I think we brought our own experience into the room. We also followed the characters that we wrote from the perspective in this situation.”

They had an intentional scene they wanted to depict. With the ache in Harper’s voice and the vulnerability that Franklin brings with his delivery, you almost would believe they were a real couple. (They aren’t.)

But they, like so many others, have been in situations where you think you want to be with someone, but there are so many questions that you just aren’t sure.

Many relate to the internal conflict illustrated in verse 4: I don’t want to cause a heartbroken/ I just want a love that keeps on growing/ Making my way trying to stay/ On my own.

On March 23rd, the pair performed the song as part of JonasCon, an event celebrating 20 years of the Jonas Brothers.

The first time they sang the song in front of anyone was at a suite at CRS 2025 with 15-20 people. The next time they performed “IDK” live was at JonasCon in front of thousands of people.

Harper exclaimed, “It was super surreal. I was honored that Franklin asked me to be a part of that with him.”

Now, Harper has invited Franklin to join her at Live at the Vineyard in Napa Valley, an artist showcase for the music industry that combines the best in music, food, and wine.

Currently, the duo doesn’t have another song on the horizon to bring us, but they do have ideas, and hopefully, that will soon be acted upon.

In the meantime, check out Harper Grace’s duets “Live Lonely” with Mason Ramsey and “Freedom” with Kelsey Hart.
