Olympic-level fawning over North Korea is a disgrace

The mainstream media hates the Trump administration, and as an extension you the Trump voter so much they prefer relatives of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un.

In case you missed it, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un’s sister made an appearance at the Winter Olympic opening ceremonies, seated in close proximity to U.S. Vice President Mike Pence.

American mainstream media outlets then gratefully assisted with North Korean propaganda efforts, as Jeremy Hunt said on FOXNews

Somehow, even as Kim Jong Un’s totalitarian regime continues to starve, torture and murder its own people, as well as threaten the U.S. with nuclear weapons, his sister’s unsubtle campaign to put a happy face on the dictatorship was championed by many in the American media.

Take, for example, the following headlines – ones you’d normally expect to find in North Korea’s state-run media.

“Kim Jong Un’s sister is stealing the show at the Winter Olympics”

“The ‘Ivanka Trump of North Korea’ captivates people in the South at the Olympics”

“North Korea is winning the Olympics—and it’s not because of sports”

The New York Times was also riveted by her smile, writing, "Flashing a sphinx-like smile and without ever speaking in public, Ms. Kim managed to outflank Mr. Trump’s envoy to the Olympics, Vice President Mike Pence, in the game of diplomatic image-making."

I am repulsed beyond words, and I talk a lot, by this brazen display of bias and unpatriotism.

According to the U.S. Department of Treasury, Kim Yo Jong is the vice director of the Workers’ Party of Korea Propaganda and Agitation Department. Unfortunately, it seems that our press made her job exceptionally easy this weekend.

Kim Yo Jong is a monster, a wolf in sheep’s clothing, the serpent in the Garden of Eden.

Hey New York Times, did you also defend Eva Braun and Joseph Gerbels during World War II? Did you say "they didn’t look so bad." I’m calling you out: This is the equivalent of praising Hitler’s mistress and propaganda minister over FDR’s Republican opponents.

This incident is embarrassing and a disgrace but not entirely unprecedented. The American media instantly fell in love with Soviet Premier Mikhail Gorbachev during the '80s and fawned all over him like a schoolgirl. Just as this adolescent crush is anti-Trump at its core, the “Gorbasms” of the time were anti-Reagan.

What evils has Vice President Pence wrought, to suffer in comparison to the DPRK’s Ivanka Trump? He not only snubbed Kim Yo Jong but also brought along Fred Warmbier during his visit to South Korea. His son Otto was jailed in North Korea and died upon his return to the U.S. last year after suffering extensive brain damage.

One outlet declared, Pence “degraded the image of the United States as a superpower” by meeting with North Korean defectors along with Otto Warmbier’s father, and by speaking strongly against North Korea on multiple occasions.

The source also described as “undignified behavior” Pence’s decision to stay seated and to not applaud the unified Korean team at the opening ceremony, adding that the Vice President “took the low road instead of acting like a big brother.”

This unprecedented unpatriotic bias makes me want to vomit. As many have proclaimed for years now, especially evident in the pro-Obama campaign coverage in 2008 and 2012, journalism is dead. This is blatant advocacy-lobbying.

Here’s some free advice for these media accomplices: If you really believe the Trump administration is worse than the Kim Jong Un regime, you really need to read up on North Korea.

With all of Kim Jong Un’s unspeakable atrocities, doesn’t the world community owe it to the suffering people of North Korea to be alarmed instead of “mesmerized?”

Shouldn’t we be heartbroken instead of entertained?

The more that we’re charmed by their charade, the more we play into the hand of their oppressive government.
