MT Soccer: DePriest's Hat Trick leads to Blue Raider win over UTEP

EL PASO, Tex. - Peyton DePriest had a night to remember as the sophomore forward led Middle Tennessee (7-2-1) with three goals as the Blue Raiders topped UTEP (6-6-1) by a score of 3-0. DePriest's hat trick is the second of the season for the Blue Raiders. Hannah Tillett scored three goals back in September against Western Carolina.

19' - CHANCE (MT) - Amber Hoot played the ball in off a corner kick and DePriest's got off a header that was cleared, but not well enough with Maddie Falter collecting the clearance and taking a shot that was saved by the keeper

28' - GOAL (MT) - Hannah Tillett finds Peyton DePriest on a run across the field for a breakaway goal.

45' - SAVE (UTEP) - The Blue Raiders maintained the possession for much of the first half, but Miner keeper Alyssa Palacios kept the game at 1-0 with two saves off shots from Hoot.

48' - CHANCE (MT) - Hoot ripped a shot from the top of the box but it sailed just high over the crossbar.

54' - SAVE (MT) - The Blue Raider defense kept the ball out of the box forcing a long shot from UTEP. Celeste Barnard easily corralled the ball for the save.

59' - SAVE (MT) - UTEP took a set piece from a few yards outside the box, and decided to take a shot. Celeste Barnard leaped and made the save.

77' - GOAL (MT) - ANOTHER ONE for Peyton DePriest! Tillett sets her up again and DePriest is wide open for the score.


80' - GOAL (MT) - DePriest finishes off the hat trick off a nice pass from Casey Riemer.

"This was a good win on the road for us," Head Coach Aston Rhoden said. "UTEP is a good team and they made it difficult for us the entire game. I'm proud of the way the team played and now we need to get ready to two tough games at home next weekend."

Middle Tennessee returns home next weekend for a pair of matches at Dean A. Hayes Soccer and Track stadium. Old Dominion will make the trip to Murfreesboro on Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff and Charlotte is set to kickoff with the Blue Raiders on Sunday at 1 p.m.
