During the 19 Days of Activism, the Child Advocacy Center has two goals. The first goal is that the 19 partner agencies will sponsor press releases to educate our community about child abuse, with a focus on the impact of opioids and substance abuse on children.
Here's howThe Primary Care & Hope Clinic helps:
The Primary Care & Hope Clinic is proud to partner with The Child Advocacy Center and other local organizations for the 7th annual 19 Days of Activism for the Prevention of Violence Against Children and Youth.
“This year’s focus on the impact of the opioid crisis on children is particularly meaningful for us,” said Lisa Terry, Chief Executive Officer. “During the course of serving 10,000 patients each year, our providers and staff witness the toll that addiction and substance abuse takes on families and children.”
The Primary Care & Hope Clinic’s Behavioral Health Department offers mental health and treatment services to help heal families facing substance use disorder. PC&HC’s three Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, including a board-certified addiction nurse, provide treatment services, along with three Licensed Clinical Social Workers, one who focuses on children and adolescents, provide therapy services.
The Kaiser Family Foundation reports that “Community Health Centers play an important role in efforts to address the opioid epidemic. In many communities, they are on the front lines of the epidemic and have become an important source of treatment for those with opioid use disorder.”
The Primary Care & Hope Clinic recently received additional funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to provide for additional staff and training to increase capacity for mental health and substance use disorder treatment services to patients.
The Primary Care & Hope Clinic is a nonprofit Community Health Center providing comprehensive primary medical and behavioral health care services, with locations in Murfreesboro, Smyrna, and Shelbyville.
