Murfreesboro's annual Christmas Parade trailed through downtown Murfreesboro on Sunday, Dec. 9.

The parade was dedicated to the memory of Angie Walker, who was killed during the Nov. 6 tornado that hit the Christiana community of Rutherford County.

The Christmas parade is sponsored by the family-owned WGNS Radio. Angie Walker, wife of the station's president, has organized the parade for more than 17 years, "always greeting people with a smile and a hug if you needed it," a release from WGNS Radio said.

The theme of this year's parade was "A Christmas Story." MTSU President Dr. Sidney A. McPhee and First Lady Elizabeth McPhee were the grand marshals of the Murfreesboro Christmas Parade.

WGNS News Radio has sponsored the parade for 33 years along with The Noon Exchange Club, Stones River Amateur Radio Club, ATMOS Energy, and Franklin Synergy Bank.
