Paula McInaney is the new activity assistant at Mindful Care Adult Day Services. She joins Audrey Bolek, activity assistant, and Keneshia Sweet, program director.

Originally from Colorado, Paula has worked with senior citizens since the day she was invited to a concert at an assisted-living community.

“From that moment on, I knew this was where God wanted me to be,” she said.

Starting as a volunteer, Paula completed the training program to become a caregiver at that same facility. Since then, she has remained connected to senior work by contracting with companion-service agencies both in Colorado and Tennessee. For a few years, Paula was a full-time, live-in caregiver to a “lovely lady.”

“Paula rounds out our staff wonderfully and brings both passion and professionalism,” to our program,” commented Sweet. “We are thrilled to have her on the team.”

Mindful Care Adult Day Services operates out of New Vision Baptist Church on Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro and welcomes participants age 55 and up who have early-onset Alzheimer’s. Open five days a week, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the daily program provides physical and cognitive activities—arts and crafts, games, puzzles, participatory exercises—all built upon a foundation of joy, comfort, laughter and safety. The program also allows caregivers a much-needed break.

Paula says she is looking forward to many more enjoyable hours with her new senior friends at Mindful Care.
