Veteran health educator and nurse Cynthia Thomas has been named Managing Director of Programs at Mindful Care, the only state-licensed adult day services program in Rutherford County for people age 55 and older with dementia issues.

Thomas's nursing career includes stints at area hospital, veterans and assisted living facilities, most recently at Stones River Manor. Of her 30 years of nursing experience, 20 have featured working with people with dementia and their caregivers.

Mindful Care offers a safe social setting for those who suffer with early stage Alzheimer's or other forms of memory loss, while giving their caregivers a much-needed break. Mindful Care is open 8 to 5 weekdays in space provided by New Vision Baptist Church. In addition to in-person activities, Mindful Care offers daily online virtual programs as well as music therapy sessions.

Openings in the program are available for those who meet the criteria. For information, call Cynthia Thomas at 615-542-4371 or visit mindful-care.org online.
