Murfreesboro Citizens Fire Academy

Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department is now accepting applications for the Fall 2019 Citizens Fire Academy.

"We have revamped the academy and added new and exciting evolutions," Fire & Life Safety Specialist Shan Womack said. "We are eager to educate a small group of area residents on the various aspects of the services we offer our community."

Academy participants will receive an insider's view of MFRD operations. Students will have the opportunity to try on turnout gear, climb an aerial ladder, receive hands-on training in CPR, extrication, hazardous materials decontamination, and much, much more, including a GRAND FINALE of live fire training.

The six-week course will take place on Tuesday nights from 5:30 pm-9:00 pm beginning Tuesday, Oct. 1. There will be no class on Oct. 8 due to fall break schedules. Students will graduate Nov. 12.

It is important to mention that the Citizens Fire Academy is in no way job related. Completing the academy has no bearing on employment with the city or MFRD.

Must be 18 or older to apply. The cost of the class is $35. Class size is limited and the deadline for application submission is Sept. 1. Applications can be obtained online HERE.
