A Murfreesboro family managed to safely escape a burning home overnight but will not be able to stay in the home because of smoke and fire damage.
At approximately 11:58 p.m., Dec. 8, Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department firefighters were dispatched to fire at a home on Bethany Court.
Within seven minutes of the call, the crew aboard Ladder 9 arrived to find the garage and a bonus room above on fire. Other fire apparatus, including Ladder 10, Rescue 9, Engine 5 and Battalion Chief 1 and 2, also responded to the scene. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack on the fire and quickly extinguished the fire.
“Crews did an excellent job of stopping the fire and keeping it from reaching other parts of the home,” said Battalion Chief Mark McClusky. “There was heavy smoke damage to the rest of the home, so the occupants will be displaced.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by MFRD Fire Marshal’s Division.
