WMOT Roots Radio, Yee-Haw Brewing Co. and WSM’s Grand Ole Opry have partnered to present the first-ever Music City Christmas Jam on Saturday, Dec. 14, with live music and libations from 1 to 10 p.m. at the Yee-Haw/Ole Smoky Moonshine complex at 6th and Peabody in downtown Nashville.
The indoor/outdoor event is a benefit for Second Harvest Food Bank and a showcase for the roots music that’s made Nashville famous since the Opry’s birth in 1925, organizers say.
A DJ will kick things off at 1 o’clock. From 3 to 5 p.m., historic WSM-AM will take over the stage to present an “Opry Circle Throwdown” with Jesse Labelle and Emily Ann Roberts. From 5 to 10 p.m., WMOT will go live on 89.5 FM and WMOT.org with a slate of great songwriters and bands: David Olney (5 p.m.), Amy Black (6 p.m.), Logan Ledger (7 p.m.), King Corduroy (8 p.m.) and Blackfoot Gypsies (9 p.m.).
"It's wonderful to see our legendary music and sports partners all come together to combat hunger in our community, especially during the Holiday Season,” says Yee-Haw and Ole Smoky founder Joe Baker.
Patrons are encouraged to bring canned food to fill on-site donation kiosks, and there will be opportunity to donate to Second Harvest, the longstanding Nashville anti-hunger organization. Also on site during the afternoon, friends from WSM and the Nashville Predators. Preds fans are invited to join a pre-game pep rally from 3 to 5 p.m. before the 5:30 puck-drop just a short walk away.
WMOT Roots Radio 89.5 FM, is a 100,000-watt, NPR affiliated radio station serving Middle Tennessee from the College of Media and Entertainment, owned and operated by Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
