'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' at Oaklands Mansion

In partnership with Oaklands Mansion, Murfreesboro Little Theatre proudly presents Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize winning "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."

Set on a Mississippi plantation in the summer of the mid 1950s, the wealthy, yet dysfunctional, Pollitt family gathers to celebrate Big Daddy's 65th birthday. Learning of his decaying health and the lack of a chosen heir to his estate, the family begins a wicked competition to secure Big Daddy's fortune. Favored son, Brick, begins to spiral while his wife, Maggie, works to insure their future. Less-favored son, Gooper, his wife, Mae, and their five children try to weasel their way in. Every interaction is laced with an ulterior motive and the truth is as unforgiving as the late summer sun.

In May of 1983, Murfreesboro Little Theatre staged their first production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." Notably, the role of Big Daddy was played by the late James "Jim" A. Ridley Jr., a founding member of Murfreesboro Little Theatre and former Board President of Oaklands Mansion.

Murfreesboro Little Theatre's production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" by Tennessee Williams will be performed in Maney Hall at Oaklands Mansion. Performance dates are March 7-8 & 10-13, Tuesday – Saturday performances at 7:00 pm and Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $10 Adults, $7 Students & Seniors, and $5 for MLT Members.
