The Rutherford County Safe Baby Court is joining with The Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford and Cannon Counties to participate in the 10th annual 19 Days of Activism for the Prevention of Abuse and Violence Against Children and Youth, organized by the Women's World Summit Foundation. This campaign is designed to encourage local activities to promote education and awareness to end violence toward children.
“The 19 Days of Activism is the perfect way to bring awareness to the issue of child abuse and violence in our community,” said Judge Donna Davenport. “The Safe Baby Court is dedicated to protecting children while training and supporting parents as they secure the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful.”
During the 19 Days of Activism, the Rutherford Safe Baby Court will continue to serve the ever-growing population of children and families currently participating in Safe Baby Court. We will also be promoting this campaign via our social media platform.
The Rutherford County Safe Baby Court was launched in March 2020 with the mission of ensuring that all babies and toddlers have a strong start in life. Every six minutes an infant or toddler is removed from home due to alleged abuse or neglect. Safe Baby Court connects very young children and their families with the needed support and services, with a goal of advancing health and well-being.
Safe Baby Court is a community engagement and systems change initiative focused on improving how the courts, child welfare agencies, and related child-serving organizations work together to improve and expedite services for children who are under court supervision.
“Thank you to our partner, the Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford and Cannon Counties, for protecting victims of child abuse and for inviting Rutherford County Safe Baby Court to be part of the 19 Days of Activism for the Prevention of Abuse and Violence Against Children and Youth,” Judge Davenport said. “Our court would not be successful without the tremendous community support that we receive.”
The public is welcome to attend the Safe Baby Court's community meetings at noon on the third Thursday of each month. The meetings are currently be held virtually via Zoom.
