An audacious duo was arrested in early November in Franklin for passing bad checks to buy vehicles from car lots in Rutherford, Davidson and Williamson counties.

MPD Detective D. Harrison was investigating the disappearance of a vehicle from Toyota of Murfreesboro when he found it -- and the people driving it -- had been impounded in Franklin.

According to an incident report from Murfreesboro Police, Harrison was notified on Nov. 8 Victoria Bilyeu and Sean Davidson were arrested in Franklin and charged with possession of a stolen 2015 Toyota 4Runner.

Harrison believed Bilyeu and Davidson were also behind the theft of a 2015 Jeep Wrangler in October from City Auto on Bridge Street. They paid for the SUV with a check for more than $38,000 that then bounced, Harrison said.

“From the investigation at City Auto, I was notified of the same fraudulent scam was also done at A&L RV at 130 Capital Way (in Christiana),” Harrison said.

In that case, Bilyeu and Davidson allegedly wrote a check for $287,236.34 for a motorhome plus a second check for $16,796.46 for an extended warranty, Harrison said.

Harrison went to Franklin to interview the pair.

“Victoria Bilyeu admitted to all the criminal activity at Toyota of Murfreesboro, City Auto, and A&L RV sales. She also admitted to Nelson Mazda in Cool Springs, Town and Country Ford in Madison, and Lexus in Nashville.

After Bilyeu and Davidson were released from the Williamson County jail, they were transferred to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where they were charged with felony theft over $250,000.
