The Charity Circle of Murfreesboro's Duck Ball, originally scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 28, has been canceled due to the current COVID conditions, according to a press statement.

With surging COVID-19 cases, the Charity Circle has decided to take a cautious route and cancel this year's event. The Duck Ball is expected to resume its typical timeframe in spring 2022. 

The Duck Ball is the The Charity Circle of Murfreesboro’s signature event. Typically held at Stones River Country Club, guests enjoy dinner and dancing along with an auction.

Originally called the Ugly Duckling Ball as  a bit of a spoof of Nashvilles premier event, the Swan Ball, Murfreesboro's premier event started in 1968 as a fundraiser for the community's charitable needs.

The Charity Circle of Murfreesboro is a women’s organization founded in 1910 whose fundraising efforts benefit the basic health and welfare needs of families in Murfreesboro. Some of the agencies that have received aid are: Habitat For Humanity, Child Advocacy Center, St. Clair Adult Day Service, West Main Mission, Hope Clinic, The Dispensary of Hope, Greenhouse Ministries, Tennessee School for the Blind, Rutherford County Food Bank, Special Kids Inc., Good Shepherd Children's Home, Community Helpers, the Domestic Violence Program, Project HELP, Room at the Inn, and the list could go on. 

Additional Charity Circle events scheduled for 2021 include the Tailgate Party on Sept. 24, Cocktails at Copper Ridge on Oct. 21, the Ladies Christmas Luncheon on Dec. 3, and Cocktails and Cheer on Dec. 10.
