Rutherford County Democratic Party to Elect New Leaders at Reorganization Convention

The Rutherford County Democratic Party will hold a Biennial Reorganization Convention to elect new leaders on Saturday, Aug. 14.

The meeting will take place at Barfield Crescent Park, Pavilion 7. Doors open for registration at 8:30 a.m., convention start time is 9:30 a.m. Participants must bring their photo ID. Participants may also bring their voter registration card: a replacement voter registration card may be obtained by visiting the Election Commission at 1 Public Square South, or call (615) 898-7743.

All Rutherford County residents who are Democrats and registered voters are urged to attend to discuss the party’s agenda for the next two years. During the Convention, the voting delegation will adopt the County Party bylaws and elect new leadership including a Chair, three Vice Chairs, a Secretary, a Treasurer and Executive Committee members from all areas of the county for a two-year term.

The Rutherford County Democratic Party Reorganization Convention will be open to all Democratic residents. Attendees who want a seat on the Executive Committee should arrive early to complete credentialing forms and be admitted to the convention prior to 9:30 a.m., when the meeting will begin. Visitors are welcome; however, no one will be allowed entry after the doors close at 9:30.
